Anthony Davis Instagram Activity Hints at Interest in D’Angelo Russell Rejoining Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers traded for Anthony Davis, and their second attempt was successful. Davis will now get a chance to play alongside LeBron, and it seems like he’s pretty serious about his role on the team. The All-Star has already started recruiting free agents, and it happens right before the June 30 start date. Davis started following D’Angelo Russell on Instagram.

We all know what this means. Will Davis try to convince Russell to leave the Brooklyn Nets and play in the West Coast again? The young guard spent the first two years of his professional career there, so there’s a huge possibility that he comes back.

Russell has a history with the Lakers.

“It sounds good on paper (knocking the Lakers out), but we’re not competing against them for seeding. A win is good enough,” Russell said after his team played the Lakers.

However, he is pretty serious about his role in Brooklyn, and maybe doesn’t have anything else on his mind. Switching teams is probably last thing he’d do at right now.

“I plan on being in Brooklyn for a long time,” he said  couple of months ago. “You can forget about my Lakers days if I do it right. Make new headlines. That’s my goal.”

But, Russell talked to LeBron last summer as he was seeking advice.

“I actually reached out to LeBron this summer,” he told Bleacher Report. “I asked ‘What’s the best thing for becoming consistent?’ He’s like, ‘You have to be prepared mentally to go out and dominate every game, and then your teammates will follow that.’”

Russell discussed his his conversation with LeBron after Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving apologized for his nasty behavior in Cleveland.

Irving’s situation may be of great importance for Russell. Irving has long been linked to the Nets, and there’s always a possibility that he goes to Brooklyn. However, if he decides to join LeBron and Davis, Russell won’t have Irving by his side. So, let’s just wait and see what happens in the next few weeks. Things are really interesting at the moment, and impossible is nothing.
