B/R: Kevin Durant ‘Soul-Searching’ Ahead Of Warriors, Knicks And Nets Decision

Warriors star Kevin Durant suffered a serious Achilles injury and had a surgery to fix it. The star player is recovering at the moment, and he will also have to make a decision regarding his free agency. Durant has already been linked with the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks. However, some say that the Golden State Warriors will offer him a max-contract. Will Durant stay in the Golden State?

“KD still has, whether it’s staying in Golden State or leaving, the teams that are pursuing him, the teams that are going to pay him a max deal…essentially let him dictate the kind of contract he wants—that hasn’t changed,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said Wednesday. “They all just expect next year he’ll be a very expensive redshirt, probably starting at around $38 million a year.

“I’m told KD is doing a lot of soul-searching right now, stepping back from the injury and processing all of this. For KD, he can go back to Golden State on a five-year, $200 million-plus deal. That gives him absolute assurance coming off this Achilles injury. Maybe it gives him something else to think about staying in Golden State. But Brooklyn and the Knicks are very much in the fight.”

Durant will probably miss the entire 2019-20 season due to the injury that he suffered in the Finals. He will probably command a max contract in free agency despite the fact that he will miss the first year.

There was so many speculation regarding Durant and his decision to leave the Golden State and join the Knicks. Kyrie Irving is rumored to join the Knicks too. So, these two may join forces on the same team.

Will Durant’s injury affect his decision-making process? Not every NBA player returns after an Achilles injury, and Durant may stay on his current team. The Warriors are expected to offer Durant a five year contract worth $221. The Nets and Knicks may give him $164 million for four years. The difference is too big to be ignored, and we don’t really know if Durant is into financial stability. Where is he going?
