Doctor Just Gave Shocking Update On Kevin Durant’s Injury

Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant ruptured his Achilles in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals. With such an injury, it takes roughly eight months to a year for a player to be able to get back on the court.

Following Durant’s surgery, both a doctor and trainer agree that Durant will never be the same again.

“He’s not going to be an 82-game-a-year,” said a doctor.

“I think you’re going to likely see at least a step back,” added trainer Jeff Stotts. “At least, that’s what the studies show—that there is going to be a dip in productivity.”

Those are some very unpleasant news for fans all over the world, as Durant is arguably the best basketball player out there. However, following the horrific injury, it seems unlikely that he’ll be able to show his true dominance again.

Approaching the age of 31, Durant stands before an arduous road to recovery. After all, rehabbing an injury of this magnitude is difficult at any age.

While Durant should not be counted out entirely, the odds are decidedly against him given his age, the severity of his injury and the history of NBA players suffering from this kind of injury throughout the years.

Of the 20 documented Achilles tears in the NBA over the past 15 years, almost all of them were never able to approach their pre-injury performance again. There are many more cases in the years and decades prior, and the wonders of modern medicine still haven’t done much to restore players any better.
