Ex-Patriots Linebacker Marquis Flowers Vows To Reveal ‘Truth’ About Malcolm Butler Benching

What happened with Malcolm Butler in Super Bowl LII? Former Patriots linebacker Marquis Flowers made a promise, and it involves Malcolm Butler’s benching.

The linebacker wrote a catchy tweet, and triggered an avalanche of reactions.

When it comes to Butler, he isn’t really interested in talking about his benching.

“Everywhere I go, people ask me why I didn’t play in the Super Bowl and stuff like that. Bar, restaurant, bathroom — it doesn’t even matter. They ask me why I didn’t play and say, ‘I’m sorry …’ I don’t want to hear that s—! It’s over with. I don’t want anybody to feel sorry for me – none of that. I’m gassed up and I’m ready to play,” Butler said.

Duron Harmon shares the same opinion. He said, “It’s over with. I mean it’s all what-ifs now and what-ifs are not going to change anything. So what is the point of going back in the past and trying to go over that and try to find answers when in all reality, it doesn’t even matter anymore in the 2018 season?

“You just gotta look at what you want to accomplish this year. We know we want to play good football and be in a position at the end of the year to play more games in the winter. So looking at (the Butler situation), that doesn’t have anything to do with that (playing well this year). Malcolm has moved on. He’s with the Tennessee Titans now and it’s time we do the same (and move on).”

The Patriots released Flowers last September. “I was a little confused with that, I’m not going to lie,” he said of the release. “Again, it was a weird day. I’m just thankful I got to hold my newborn baby again since I had her. I’m glad everything worked out. I don’t want to say how quick it happened, it’s one of those things that happened over there, and I’m just glad the Lions called and told me I could come over.”

The linebacker took to his Instagram account to thank the Patriots.

“Nothing But Love And Appreciation to the @patriots organization and the Entire state of Massachusetts! I enjoyed every last second and wouldn’t change it for nothing! Y’all know how it goes in this league but the Marathon must continue! Thank you For a Great Year!”
