Former Patriot Gifts Father Super Bowl Ring In Heart-melting Moment

Patriots owner Robert Kraft invited players and coaches to his home on June 6. This was a rather special gathering, and the Patriots received their largest ring as most like to call it. Head coach Bill Belichick, quarterback Tom Brady, Super Bowl MVP Julian Edelman and many others enjoyed the big party Kraft organized to celebrate. It’s interesting to note that some role players and guys who made a cameo appearance throughout the season. Return man Kenjon Barner is one of them. Yes, Barner got his Super Bowl ring, too.

Barner played in just five games in three separate short stings with the team in the first half of the 2018 season. He ran the ball 19 times for 71 yards, and was released in November.

The return man was really surprised to receive a letter from Kraft. It read, “Enclosed please find your Super Bowl LIII ring! Thank you for your contribution to this championship team and great service to our franchise.”

Barner posted photos of his letter and the ring. He was more than grateful.

Just want to send out a huge thank you to everyone at the @patriots organization again for the opportunity that was given!” Barner wrote in an instagram post. “Wasn’t expecting this when I got the call and still wasn’t expecting it when the ring was In My hands! Thank you Thank you Thank you, God is good! #Back2Back #2X”

It was even more interesting for us to see what happened to the ring. Barner’s Super Bowl ring turned out to be the best present for his dad.

“This means more to me than anything, being able to see the happiness that this stuff brings my Dad means the world to me! This why I do what I do, the joy that my family gets from this game I play, is my why!”

Barner was more than happy to join the Patriots in September.

“From the time that I’ve been here, it reminds me a lot of what I did in college with Chip [Kelly at the University of Oregon],” he said in September. “They don’t waste time. There’s no time wasted and everything’s efficient. We can get our work done.”
