Heart Transplant Recipient Gets A Unique Graduation Surprise From Tom Brady

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady gathered an army of supporters on his way to fame, and he has fans of every age. Kids love the GOAT, and elderly love him, too. But, the warmest emotions come from patients who are unable to attend Brady’s games due to an illness. This heart transplant recipient even missed his graduation while recovering from the surgery.

Shaun Patterson had a very special graduation ceremony at Cardinal Glennon on Monday. What did Brady do? He sent him an emotional video, wishing him all the best.

This brings us to the story of Nolan Hanny. The boy passed away couple of months ago, and he was Brady’s greatest fan. Nolan’s mom wrote a lengthy Facebook status, and dedicated it to Brady and her son’s struggle.

“Hi Tom. This is my son Nolan Hannu. He died suddenly just this last Friday, March 15, 2019 in his bedroom filled with pictures, posters, and memorabilia of you. He was only 17. We are hoping to have an answer today as to what happened within his body for him to collapse like that and leave us. I need you to know that he loved you, Tom. He has looked up to you and admired you since he was a young boy. We are from Michigan and were able to take him to two of your games, one in Minneapolis when you played the Vikings, and one in Green Bay when you played the Packers. His dream was to meet you and see you play at Gillette Stadium.

“At the game in Minnesota Nolan was standing over the locker room exit after half time. He saw you run out and was in awe of seeing you that close. That was one of the greatest moments of his life and he talked about it often. Nolan has 3 sisters just like you do. I would remind him of that whenever they drove him crazy, which was often. He was so pumped when you and the Patriots won your 6th ring. He bought your Super Bowl game jersey right after and later this week we will see him in his casket wearing your jersey. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such a strong role model to him. I need you to know that Nolan lived. We are all Patriots and will forever be your fans.”
