Kyrie Irving to Lakers: LeBron James Sent Devastating News From NBA Insider

The Los Angeles Lakers are heavily linked with Kyrie Irving, but ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan believes that the Celtics star won’t join LeBron James.

The NBA free agency market will open in a month, and we still don’t know anything about Irving’s future. This season was really hard for him, and he couldn’t really cope with the leadership role he was given. Irving called out his younger teammates, and the locker room was full of tension.

The worst part came with the second playoff defeat to the Milwaukee Bucks, and the focus is now on Boston’s ability to re-sign Irving.

Irving fixed his relationship with LeBron, but MacMullan is convinced that he won’t join the Lakers

“I did a little digging around, and my feeling is very strongly that – while LeBron and Kyrie have kissed and made up – that Kyrie is not going there,” she said on The Hoop Collective podcast. “He’s just not. I just don’t believe it. And I think people close to him just don’t believe it either.”

Reggie Muller doesn’t share the same opinion.

“I can see him re-teaming with LeBron in L.A.,” he said on the Dan Patrick Show. “He made the experiment and rightly so. Every player has this right to do this, he wanted to see if he could lead a team. It didn’t work out and I love Kyrie, but in my opinion, Kyrie could be one of the greatest Scottie Pippen’s ever to a Michael Jordan. He is that good, but I don’t think he’s that No 1.”

“Of all the Lakers, I’m keeping Kyle Kuzma,” he added. “You can get rid of everyone else. As long as they keep Kyle Kuzma, I’m alright with that.”

Brian Windhorst is also convinced that Irving’s relationship with LeBron may change everything.

“As time passes here, I would’ve said that this is impossible for many months. But as time passes here and as the possibility exists that Jason Kidd could be hired as the Lakers coach, I think the possibility of Kyrie and LeBron reuniting — that door, which was deadbolted, has been un-deadbolted and has now been cracked open … It might even be opening more by the day. And I say that just because I think it’s on Kyrie’s radar, it’s on Kyrie’s board. He has had discussions with people about playing for the Lakers.”
