Nate Burleson: Josh Gordon Returning Would Give Patriots Second-Best WR Core in NFL

The NFL suspended Josh Gordon  indefinitely, and there’s no update on his reinstatement. The New England Patriots own him, and they can’t wait to have him back. Gordon was brilliant during his time with the Patriots, and he gives he Patriots the second best wide receiver core in the NFL. That’s what NFL Network’s Nate Burleson says.

Gordon’s return will be of great help for the team, and they really need him. The Patriots were the only team to show interest in the receiver, and the Cleveland Browns didn’t want him at all so they sent him to New England.

Quarterback Tom Brady welcomed Gordon, and he even practiced with him this offseason.

ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported that Brady and Gordon have had a perfect relationship since the very beginning.

“[Tom Brady] recognized that Josh Gordon made the team better and recognized that he was going to need some attention,” Darlington said. “Josh Gordon was going out to dinner with Tom Brady and Gisele [Bundchen] at times because Tom recognized that he needs to bring this guy in, foster him, make him feel like he is at home, recognizing some of the issues that Josh Gordon goes through.

“While that is, in part, a guy just trying to get better, it’s also Tom Brady being a really good person, continuing to try to help out and manifest Josh Gordon and remembering by the way that Josh Gordon’s rights are currently held by the New England Patriots. If he can make a comeback, that is where he will be.

“Tom Brady, to this day, really respects Josh Gordon and would love to see him live a better life.”

Brady isn’t the only Patriot to want Gordon back. Patriots WR Julian Edelman shares the same opinion. Jules likes Gordon because “he balls.”

“It’s a life situation and you’re pulling for him for that — to get better,” Edelman said. “And selfishly, I want him because he’s a really good football player and he can help us. I don’t know anything (regarding when/if he could get reinstated) going into it. Like, legit. Like, I’ve asked 30 people inside the organization and outside (the organization), like, ‘Do you know what’s going to happen?’ And no one knows not one thing. So we’re just kind of sitting and waiting to see what the circumstances are going to be with him because he’d be a really good tool to have. He balls.”
