Report: Kyrie Irving Makes Final Decision On Lakers, Kevin Durant Plot Twist

Rumors that Kyrie Irving plans to sign with the Brooklyn Nets are growing stronger by the day. Recent reports suggest that Kyrie Irving will skip the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks and will opt to join the Nets. That could have huge impact on what Kevin Durant plans to do. There are strong suspicions that Irving and Durant will leave the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors respectively so they could team up together somewhere.

There are speculation that the The New York Knicks intend to team up both Kevin Durant and Irving at Madison Square Garden. But the Lakers and Nets also share similar interest.

Both players are good friends, but the rumors about the two potentially teaming up came to light when they were seen in Miami together following the All-Star weekend.

SNY’s Anthony Puccio reported Irving is leaning toward signing with the Nets in free agency. Stephen A. Smith declared that Kyrie Irving is more likely to go to the Brooklyn Nets than the New York Knicks this summer.

“Yes. From everything I’ve heard, KD and Kyrie are planning on coming to New York,” Smith wrote on Twitter. “95% Chance they say! Only potential hiccup is KD changing his mind.”

According to Ian Begley of SportsNet New York, with Irving reportedly considering other teams, the chances of him re-signing with the Celtics are low.

“That applies to Irving as well. His plans/desires today may not be the same as they are on June 30. With that said, in recent days, people around Irving have described the probability of him returning to Boston as a free agent as low. Celtics GM Danny Ainge told reporters Wednesday that they haven’t received any indication yet from Irving that he doesn’t want to return to Boston,” Begley reported.

Durant decision to remain in the Bay Area would spark a lot of reaction that would impact the entire free-agent market. It would send the Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers running in different directions trying to figure out their backup plan.
