Report: Patriots ‘Livid’ At Former Character Coach Jack Easterby

Jack Easterby is probably the last person New England supports at the moment. The former character coach got into a big trouble with the New England Patriots.

Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal wrote that the Patriots are livid at the Texans for getting Easterby. Moreover, they are frustrated because of Easterby’s decision to accept the job offer and leave the organization. The former Patriots staffer is now the executive vice president of team development.

That’s not all. Another source told Bedard that the Patriots are pissed off at the moment. What made the Patriots this angry? Is it because Easterby joined the rival with all the knowledge of the Patriots’ inner operations? Let’s not forget that former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is now leading the rival as he became their head coach.

“New England’s unhappiness toward Houston doesn’t have much to do with the Caserio situation,” Bedard wrote. “According to multiple team sources, the Patriots are irate over the departure of former Team Development Director/Character Coach Jack Easterby. And if certain people in the organization had their way, the Patriots would take it out on the Texans on Dec. 1.”

Easterby had problems with the Patriots after the Nick Caserio issue. The director of player personnel was a top candidate for the freshly opened general manager position. The Texans fired Brian Gaine, and the Patriots filed tampering charges against Houston. According to Pats, Easterby may be involved in the Caserio thing.

“Easterby has so much intel on the inner workings, including the thought processes of the Patriots, their coaches and players, that he’s much more valuable than any coach, player or scout switching teams.”

The Krafts are also angry at Easterby and his attendance at the ring ceremony. He was a critical figure in Robert Kraft’s involvement in the prostitution scandal.

“The Krafts can tolerate a lot of things,” Bedard explained, “but if you leave for a competitor with state secrets, take issue with some of their personal actions … don’t disrespect their family home by trying to poach someone else on your way out the door.”
