Report: Warriors Bringing Out Big Guns For Durant Proves They Know They’re Lost Without Him

Things are getting really interesting in thee NBA. This is probably the most interesting NBA summer ever. Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard are in the center of all events at the moment. Durant signed a contract with the Golden State Warriors in 2016, and he was a key player in the team. He suffered two serious injuries and his ruptured Achilles tendon will keep him sidelined next season.

Warriors General Manager Bob Myers will try to convince Durant to sign with the Warriors again. Stephen Curry will join him at the meeting. That’s not all. Klay Thompson will also try to talk Durant into rejoining the Warriors.

“Story filed to ESPN: Golden State’s Kevin Durant is planning to engage four teams in discussions upon the opening of NBA free agency on Sunday – the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks and Warriors, league sources tell ESPN,” Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

Shams Charania of The Athletic confirmed Myers’ trip to New York.

“Warriors President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Bob Myers, fresh off his new contract extension, is tentatively scheduled to travel to New York over the weekend where Durant and his inner circle are located, league sources told The Athletic. Other teams, such as the KnicksNets and Clippers, could speak with Durant, too. The Knicks have other free agency meetings set in Los Angeles during the week, according to sources.”

In 2016, Curry, Thompson, Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala went to the Hamptons to talk to Durant. This time Curry will be the only player to attend the meeting, and Thomspon is expected to join the meeting via video chat. The information was confirmed by The Athletic.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said the Warriors want to get Durant back.

“The injury throws everything for a loop,’’ Kerr said. “We all want him back. We think this is a great situation for him and vice-versa. Hopefully he’s back and we’ll all give him any advice and counsel he needs. Ultimately, he’ll make his own decision. He’s earned that.”

Let’s see what happens in the Golden State. Is Durant coming back?
