The NFL suspended Gordon in December for violating the PEDs policy. The Patriots supported Gordon throughout the process, and Gordon follows every move his team makes.

When asked about Gordon’s status prior to the Super Bowl, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell put the main focus on his health.

“Directly I have not spoken to him since his last suspension,” Goodell said. “I do know he’s in treatment. He’s a young man who has had a lot of challenges. I have gotten to know him and understands his struggles and the challenges that he’s had to go through and he’s working at it. He understands what he has to do. He understand the importance for him — And this is well beyond football. This is for his life. — to make sure he takes care of himself and he understands the importance of getting this issue under control and being able to live a healthy and long life.

“If he can, we’ll evaluate that at the right time, but right now the focus is what more can we do to help Josh get to that place.”

Brady didn’t have an explosive reaction to Gordon’s suspension.

“I didn’t have much of a reaction,” TB12 said. “Just focusing on what I need to do, and that’s the way it’s been all year.”

It’s obvious that he won’t react. He likes Gordon’s style, and he hopes to have him back.

“I take my mental health very seriously at this point to ensure I remain able to perform at the highest level,” Gordon wrote after his decision to step back from the game. “I have recently felt like I could have a better grasp on things mentally. With that said, I will be stepping away from the football field for a bit to focus on my mental health. I would like to thank Coach (Bill) Belichick, Mr. (Robert) Kraft, as well as countless others within the Patriots organization for their continued support.”
