Tom Brady Shares Hype Message After First Patriots Minicamp

The New England Patriots started off their 2019 mandatory minicamp. It was a two-hour session, and the weather was perfect. Everyone was there. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady skipped the voluntary portion of the offseason workouts, but he joined his teammates today.

Day 1 was a big day for the Patriots nation, and seeing Brady on the field again was really great.

The GOAT delivered his very first hype message on Instagram.

“Treat my first like my last, and my last like my first!” he wrote.

Eight players didn’t make the session. Running back Sony Michel, running back Nick Brossette, wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste, defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr, strong safety Patrick Chung, and strong safety Nate Ebner weren’t spotted on the field.

Six players returned to practice after missing the last open session scheduled on May 23: quarterback Tom Brady, offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn, defensive end Michael Bennett, linebacker Kyle Van Noy, punter Ryan Allen, and long snapper Joe Cardona.

Wynn was present but limited in practice.

The Patriots have no injured players at the moment, and that’s such a good thing. In 2018, many players spent their minutes on injured reserve.

According to the first session of minicamp, Danny Etling is number four on the quarterback depth chart.

Wide receiver Braxton Berrios had the play of the day. He had a diving catch down the right sideline on a pass from Brian Hoyer and a coverage of Joejuan Williams. The second-year pass catcher was really good in the session.

The same applies to Maurice Harris and Stephen Anderson. They were really great during the practice. N’Keal Harry was inconsistent. This doesn’t change the fact that he stood out during the lone open OTA session.

Wynn is still limited, and Joe Thuney started at tackle. Ted Karras lined up at left guard.

TB12 had a side-session with N’Keal Harry, Benjamin Watson and James White.

Sony Michel is out, and Damien Harris had considerable reps.

Ja’Whaun Bentley had the lone interception during 11-on-11 drills. Stephon Gilmore had some time against Harry, and won the battle. Chase Winovich was great, too.

Wide receivers Braxton Berrios, Maurice Harris, Gunner Olszewski and Julian Edelman practiced punt returns.
