Tom Brady’s Message For David Ortiz Is Something All Of Boston Can Get Behind

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is one of the many athletes who sent messages of support for MLB All-Star David Ortiz.

Ortiz was shot in the Dominican Republic, and had a surgery right after the attack. His condition is stable, but he is still in intensive care. Once his condition improves, he will be transferred to Boston for treatment as reported by ESPN.

“They called me to tell me that David is injured and that they took him to a medical center, but they did not tell me how he is or where he was transferred exactly,” Leo Ortiz said. “At the moment, everything is confusing. I am trying to find out where they took my son.”

“Best news we’ve heard so far come from David Ortiz’s father, Leo Ortiz, who told reporters gathered at the clinic that David is currently resting after surgery and that no organs were affected by the bullet,” ESPN reporter Marly Rivera wrote in a tweet. “He said the doctors anticipate full recovery.”

Ortiz’s friends, family and teammates released messages of support, too. Los Angeles star Mike Trout and former Red Sox teammate Pedro Martinez support Ortiz, and hope for a speedy recovery.

“I’m at peace knowing you out of danger; you a strong man Compai, can’t wait to hear your voice,” Martinez wrote in a tweet. “My thoughts and prayers are with you, see you soon.”

“Listen, you only know the nickname “Big Papi” right now because Pedro Martinez cared about me. If he didn’t care about me as a human being, maybe I never get a chance. Maybe I don’t play 20 years. Maybe you don’t know who I am.

“But he cared about me, and the story ends this way. That’s my brother. Boston, thank you. When I came to this city, I didn’t know if I had a future. Now I have a home. Thank you for making me one of your own. I’d give you all a big f*****g hug if I could.”
