Warriors Are Reportedly Discussing A Potential Kevin Durant Sign-And-Trade

Kevin Durant suffered a terrible Achilles injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The injury will affect his career plans, and he is also set to become free agent. The injury complicated his situation on the team. Durant is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season after his successful injury. Will he return to the floor in great shape?

Rumors have long suggested that Durant will make his way to New York. He has been interested in playing for the Knicks for quite some time. The Golden State is still a contender for Durant, and the Warriors will do their best to re-sign their star player.

During an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up on Thursday, Brian Windhorst said the Warriors have talked about offering Durant to a max contract, and then working with him to agree on a trade.

Adrian Wojnarowski discussed Durant’s “soul-searching.” He will have to make a big decision.

“One of the things that is being discussed right now is that the Golden State Warriors would offer Kevin Durant a five-year contract, $57 million extra than he could get signing elsewhere, let him rehab and then work with him to be traded,” Windhorst said. “Potentially to New York, potentially to somewhere else. It would be their way to sort of take care of him monetarily after what he just went through and also protect the franchise and get some assets.”

“KD still has, whether it’s staying in Golden State or leaving, the teams that are pursuing him, the teams that are going to pay him a max deal…essentially let him dictate the kind of contract he wants—that hasn’t changed,” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said Wednesday. “They all just expect next year he’ll be a very expensive redshirt, probably starting at around $38 million a year.

“I’m told KD is doing a lot of soul-searching right now, stepping back from the injury and processing all of this. For KD, he can go back to Golden State on a five-year, $200 million-plus deal. That gives him absolute assurance coming off this Achilles injury. Maybe it gives him something else to think about staying in Golden State. But Brooklyn and the Knicks are very much in the fight.”
