Watch: Bob Myers Reveals Diagnosis Of Kevin Durant’s Injury

Warriors star Kevin Durant suffered an injury in the first half of Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Golden State Warriors General Manager Bob Myers provided an update on Durant’s injury after the team’s win over the Toronto Raptors. Myers couldn’t hide his emotions, and many were surprised to see the tearful general manager talk about his injured player.

“It should’ve been a night of triumph, proof that Golden State was as much grit and guile as splash and flash,” Myers said. “And yet Myers was just torn up, a face full of questions and regret and pain.”

“It’s an Achilles injury. I don’t know the extent of it. He’ll have an MRI tomorrow. … I don’t believe there’s anybody to blame. But I understand this world. And if you have to, you can blame me. I run our basketball operations department.

“And to tell you something about Kevin Durant, Kevin Durant loves to play basketball, and the people that questioned whether he wanted to get back to this team were wrong.

“Prior to him coming back, he went through four weeks with our medical team. It was thorough with multiple experts and multiple doctors and multiple MRIs. And we felt good about the process. He was cleared to play tonight. That was a collaborative decision.”

“He’s one of the most misunderstood people. He’s a good teammate, he’s a good person, it’s not fair. I’m lucky to know him.”

The outlook seems really negative at this time, but we can’t provide much information on Durant’s injury. The player will have an MRI today, and it will determine the condition of his leg. Durant has already suffered a calf strain, ad there’s a huge possibility that he suffered an Achilles issue. Will he return to the floor for the Finals? I don’t think so.

Ramona Shelburne and Adran Wojnarowski of ESPN.com reported that the Warriors fear that their star player has suffered a torn right Achiles tendon. Tuesday’s tests will confirm the injury.

Durant had his calf injured, and weak calves increase players’ risk of Achilles injury. That’s probably what Durant went through during the game.
