Watch: JaVale McGee Makes Extremely Bold Claim About Lakers’ Chances If LeBron Never Got Hurt

JaVale McGee will become free agent this summer, and we can’t really tell if the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in offering him another contract. McGee has nothing but words of praise and respect for the team.

The big man went on FS1’s Undisputed and said that the Lakers could have made the Finals if LeBron James had been healthy.

“I feel like we (the Lakers) definitely could’ve made it to the Western Conference Finals and met up with the Warriors,” he said. “The way that LeBron got injured … we never got to mesh and blend.”

McGee’s remarks are really good. We all know that LeBron’s injury killed LA’s chances of making the playoffs. He brought them to the fourth seed in the Western Conference and suffered an injury on Christmas Day. So, yes, McGee is right.

“I feel like LeBron only needs, especially with the young guys that he has right now, is one All-Star to add to his roster, and he can at least make it to the Western Conference Finals,” McGee added.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has high opinion of McGee.

“He’s one of the smartest guys I’ve been around,” Kerr told the Washington Post‘s Adam Kilgore in March 2017. “He’s a techie. He’s got his drones. He’s always up to date on every new technological advancement. He’s got funny stories. The team loves him. The coaching staff loves him. Sometimes this league is about opportunity and who you’re playing with.”

LeBron was all-in about signing McGee. Some say he pushed the team to sign the player.

I played against him in the last two NBA Finals and I wanted him on this team because I know what he brings,” King James said. “It’s his energy, his energy level, his ability at the rim and his ability to protect the rim. If you don’t have that on your team, you’re not going to have much, man. You need to have people with a high IQ, which he’s got. That’s why I wanted JaVale to be part of this. It is no longer a secret that the king lobbied the Lakers to get the champion.
