Watch: Klay Thompson Passes LeBron In NBA Record Book

Warriors All-Star guard Klay Thompson was brilliant in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals despite the fact that he had to leave the game in the third quarter.

Thompson made NBA history in the first quarter of the match, and moved into third place on the NBA’s all-time made playoff three’s list. In other words, he passed Lakers star LeBron James. King James has connected on 370 career postseason three’s.

With these numbers, Thompson trails Stephen Curry (467 career postseason three’s) and Ray Allen (385) on the all-time list.

Thompson will have to take care of his torn ACL this summer. It’s interesting to note that he came back to the game after the injury just to shoot his free throws. The team evaluated that he can’t play anymore, and Thompson was removed from the game.

“It’s just tough in terms of a guy like Klay that left it all out there,” Stephen Curry said after the loss. “He was playing amazing tonight. And to see a freak play like that where he lands awkwardly. I don’t know the diagnosis yet, but you think about the person and the guy and how much he loves to play the game and that’s the only thoughts you have. It’s really not about what it means in terms of playing basketball. It’s just I’m more concerned about him as an individual.”

“He might be the toughest guy I’ve ever seen in my life,” center Kevon Looney said. “I know he was in a lot of pain when he went down. I’ve never seen him scream or show emotion like that, so I knew he was hurt. He’s a tough guy and came back and made the free throws.”

Thompson may become free agent this summer, but ESPN’s Brian Windhorst believes that the Golden State will offer him a max contract. Windhorst also said that Kevin Durant will get the same treatment. Both players have been linked with other teams, but these injuries may have changed their plans. This summer will be full of decisions. Important decisions. Every NBA team will try to fix their roster.
