Report: Warriors’ Klay Thompson Makes NBA Free Agency Decision

The Golden State Warriors lost Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala, but Klay Thompson agreed to stay with the team. He will play alongside Steph Curry and the rest of the Warriors in the next five seasons. Of course, he has to recover from his torn ACL first. It’s definitely good to know that he is back in the fold.

Although Thompson took the backseat to Curry, Durant and Draymond Green, he is definitely an exceptional basketball player who can do much more than expected. Thompson is the best shooter in the NBA. After Curry. Don’t forget that.

“Guard Klay Thompson has agreed to sign a five-year maximum contract with the Warriors worth $190 million, league sources have confirmed with The Chronicle,” Connor Letourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle reported.

“Before free agency opened Sunday, the Warriors offered Thompson the max. Thompson, not surprisingly, accepted on the spot.

“Thompson has long voiced his desire to stick with Golden State long-term. Even after the shooting guard suffered an ACL injury in Game 6 of the NBA Finals that could sideline him for most — if not all — of next season, the Warriors had no hesitation about offering him a max contract.”

Thompson has great qualityes as a shooter and one-on-one defender. He spent eight seasons with the Warriors, and became a key player in three championship teams. He and Curry form the best backcourt in the NBA.

“In addition to being perhaps the best shooter in NBA history not named Stephen Curry, Thompson is an elite one-on-one defender. In his eight seasons with the Warriors, Thompson has become a key part of three championship teams, pairing with Curry to form arguably the best backcourt in the league.

“Thompson is a five-time All-Star, a two-time All-NBA selection and a reigning All-Defensive team selection. A career 41.9% shooter from beyond the arc, he owns league records for 3-pointers in a game (14) and 3-pointers in a quarter (nine), as well as the playoff record for 3s in a game (11). No one has hit more 3s in his first five years in the NBA than Thompson’s 1,060.”
