Rob Gronkowski: Hell Yeah I Worked Out With Tom Brady… He Needed Me

Retired Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski spent some time with Tom Brady, and they were actually working out at UCLA.

“It was great working out,” Gronk said. “Tom needs someone to throw to so, you know, he calls Mr. Reliable Robbie G the one and only!”

We can’t really ignore the fact that Gronkowski lost a lot of weight. He ran routes and caught passes from his favorite quarterback at the field of UCLA. That’s where Brady works out while in Los Angeles. The retired tight end is in town for the charity event as he raises money for Teen Cancer America. He will also attend the ESPYs on Wednesday.

Will Gronk come back on the field?

“There’s definitely going to be times when you miss it and everything,” Gronkowski told Rich Eisen when asked about the start of the season. “I would always say that it’s still the offseason right now. I mean I can’t really say how I’m going to feel about it when the games start rolling around and everything. You know, I just felt like it was time. I feel really good right now and it was just definitely something I thought it was the right time and the right thing to do.”

He will have a lot of time off.
“You want to know something? I never had an August off in my life. So, it’s gonna be a little different,” Gronkowski said. “That’s when it’s gonna start really seeing the change is when that comes around in August when I’m not in training camp; I might not know what to do with myself. “To have that load off your back, I mean I’ve been playing football for 15 years straight in a row of that grind. Just relaxing right now feels good.”

Brady, on the other hand, talked about the tight end unit in Foxboro. They will have their first season without Gronk.

“Yeah, it’s the first time in a long time and he was such a great player for our team,” TB12 said of the offense without his favorite tight end. “I think like any season, things are different and we’re going to have to adjust differently and teams are going to play us differently without him. We’ve seen it even when he’s been on the team.

“The other guys are getting up to speed, Matt [LaCosse]’s done a good job, Ben [Watson]’s done a good job, Stephen Anderson’s done a good job. That’s got to be a position of strength even if it’s not one player but multiple players doing different roles. There were times in my career before that where we had similar approaches. No one’s going to make any excuses for our offense, we’re going to do everything we can to be the best we can be, score every time we touch the ball and the tight end position’s a big part of our offense and those guys are going to have to do a great job for us.”
