‘Avengers’ Star Joins LeBron James’ ‘Space Jam 2’

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are almost done completing their roster. The star player isn’t directly involved in the recruiting efforts, but he is directly involved in the filming of Space Jam 2. LeBron will be joined by a bunch of NBA players, and it seems like he will also enjoy the company of an Avengers star on set.

According to sources, Avengers star Don Cheadle will appear opposite the Lakers star in the Space Jam sequel.

Warner Bros.’ Space Jam 2 is in production at the moment, and Don Cheadle is expected to take a role alongside LeBron. We don’t have much information regarding his role in Space Jam 2.

The original Space Jam is based on the story of the Looney Tunes efforts to win a basketball competition. It was released in 1996, and LeBron is more than honored to take part in the sequel.

However, Joe Pytka isn’t as excited as LeBron, and he even said that the sequel is “doomed.”

“Don’t do it. It’s doomed. Michael Jordan was the biggest star on the planet. When we did Space Jam, there was a perfect storm of players and ex-players available — Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing… They all had a persona that complemented the film. There are none around like that now.”

If you ask LeBron, he is more than thrilled to make such an incredible piece.

Man this really just hit me! I’m really shooting Space Jam 2!!” LeBron wrote recently. “This is so surreal and doesn’t even make sense to me! Where I come from man and what I saw growing up this doesn’t add up to me! I’m truly grateful and beyond blessed. This is CRAZINESS.”

The preparation for the filming of Space Jam 2 was perfect, and LeBron got himself a full-length basketball court on set.

“Production begins this summer on ‘Space Jam 2,’ which stars LeBron and is set for a July 2021 release. This is not James’ first summer movie project; he filmed ‘Trainwreck’ in 2014 and the animated film ‘Smallfoot’ in 2017. Sources told The Athletic that a full-length basketball court would be built on the ‘Space Jam 2’ set for LeBron to train.”

But, recruiting stars wasn’t really easy. Many NBA players have contracts with other brands, and LeBron had hard time completing the squad.

“In all honesty, (LeBron’s) been recruiting players to come and try to be in “Space Jam’” with him this summer, and he hasn’t been able to close some of those deals,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said. “Some of the top guys he wants to come and be with him in the movie … ‘You put me in the movie where you’re the star, I’m gonna be the one you’re dunking on.’”
