Lakers Sign Former Nevada Forward After Stellar Summer League Showing

The Los Angeles Lakers are completing their roster, and Jordan Caroline is their latest addition. The Lakers signed the forward to a deal, but we don’t have much information about the details.

Caroline was undrafted in the NBA Draft, but he was one of the greatest players at the Las Vegas Summer League showcase. In his four games with the Lakers, Caroline averaged a team-high 16 points per match on 50 percent shooting from the field while averaging 20 minutes per game. The forward contributed 3.5 rebounds per match.

The Lakers roster has 18 players now. The team has an option to start training camp with a maximum of 20 players. However, the roster will be reduced to 13 players by opening night.

If Caroline joins the regular season roster, he will fill the Lakers’ guaranteed roster spot. Let’s not forget that Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka said they are keeping the final roster spot open for trades and buyout free agents. Caroline will probably be converted to a two-way player, which is provided by his Exhibit 10 deal. If the team waives him and he ends up signed by the team’s G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, LeBron James’ team may offer him $50,000 more than other teams.

Caroline will have enough time and resources to grow on both sides of the floor. He has enough time to contribute to an NBA team. However, we do believe that the 23-year-old will be of great help for the team’s remaining two-way slot. Zach Norvell Jr. occupies the other two-way slot at the moment.

The Lakers were terrible in the 2018-19 season. They lost too many players due to injuries, including their star player. LeBron’s debut with the Lakers was terrible, and he missed 17 games due to his groin strain. The young core struggled on the floor, and most of them were traded for Anthony Davis. The Pelicans agreed to a deal with Los Angeles, and Davis will be of great help for the Lakers this season. According to pundits, Davis and LeBron make the perfect duo in the league.
