5 Reasons Why LeBron James Will Win MVP In 2019-20

LeBron James joined the Los Angeles Lakers a year ago. It was still early for him to make that big of an impact right away, but it was expected for them to at least make the playoffs, if not make some noise there.

As you all know, they didn’t. From recovering from injuries to dealing with bad leadership that was shown by the self-proclaimed king himself, the purple and gold only won 37 games and missed the playoffs for a ridiculous sixth straight year.

When Magic Johnson shockingly resigned as President of Basketball Operations just prior to the end of the regular season, things got even worse.

But now the team possesses a strong, well-balanced roster and LeBron is well-rested and ready to kick some a*s. In fact, he could be set up to not only have a monster season in terms of impact and optics, but to also add another notch to his legacy. Here are top 5 reasons why LeBron James is the favorite to win MVP this season.

5. Last season was bad luck

On Christmas Day, LeBron injured his groin, causing him to miss the next month of action. During that period, Rondo also got injured and was out for a few weeks.

That win bolstered the Lakers’ record to 20-14, which put them at fourth place in the West.

If things go well this season, the Lakers will be back on their feet in no time.

4. He’s healthy now

LeBron’s groin injury took a lot more than a month to recover. Now, seven months later during which LeBron got the much needed rest combined with proper training, injury prevention exercises, sleep and proper diet, the King is more than ready to return to the court.

Not only should LeBron look physically healthy and well-rested, he should also be emotionally healthy and revitalized.

3. He wants to redeem himself

James has almost always received extremely favorable treatment from the press. Ever since he won his first two rings in 2012 and 2013, just about every pundit in the mainstream media has hyped LeBron as either the GOAT or one of the two or three greatest players in NBA history.

However, this past season LeBron faced some harsh critics and was even blamed for showing bad leadership.

Considering all that, we’re safe to assume that LeBron would want to make some people eat their words and restore the great luster that has always preceded him.

2. The media loves a redemption story

We’ve been constantly proving to be a nation of second chances who absolutely loves comeback stories. So does the media.

With LeBron being considered one of the two or three greatest players of all time, if the Lakers do good this season the media will be the first to start talking about how LeBron has made a “comeback.” If the Lakers do win the world championship, the media will milk that “comeback” talk for all it’s worth.

1. He looked great after his groin injury

We knew LeBron would eventually recover from the injury, but LeBron not only played well, but also looked good physically.

It took a couple weeks for him to get his mojo back, but starting in late February, it seemed like his hops, explosiveness and overall mobility had returned.

In 16 games after the All-Star break, LeBron averaged 28.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game on 51.0 percent overall shooting.

All things considered, we’re not afraid to make a bold prediction that LeBron will be back stronger than ever, aiming for that MVP title.
