Albert Haynesworth Announces Serious Medical Condition

Albert Haynesworth has been struggling with serious health issues since his retirement in 2011, and it seems like his health condition is really serious.

The former Tennessee Vols defensive tackle took to his Instagram account to send a message to his friends, family and fans. He confirmed that his kidneys have failed, adding that he needs a transplant now. Haynesworth has been dealing with kidney disease for three years, and his situation got worse lately.

“Well this hard for me to say but my doctors said I should reach out to my family, friends and fans,” Haynesworth wrote in an Instagram post. “Some of you may know I’ve been battling kidney disease for a few years now the time has come family, friends and fans I’m in dire need of a kidney mine have finally failed me on July 7 2019.

“It’s hard to believe from being a professional athlete to only 8 season in retirement that my body has taken another major blow. First with the brain aneurism 3 seasons out of the NFL to now my kidneys failing me. But the bright side of this latest ordeal I can ask for help by asking for someone to generously donate a kidney. Haynesworth played college football at Tennessee from 1999-2001, and was named Second Team All-Southeastern Conference in his final year in Knoxville. The defensive tackle was selected by the Titans in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He spent seven seasons in Nashville. Prior to the 2009 NFL season, he inked a seven-year deal worth $100 million with the Washington redskins.

The player struggled with serious disciplinary issues and had problems with the coaching staff. He played just 20 games in two seasons with the Redskins. Haynesworth was sent to New England in 2011. He played six games with the Patriots, and the team released him. Haynesworth spent some time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
