DeMarcus Cousins Reacts To Joining Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron

DeMarcus Cousins is officially part of the Lakers family. Nobody thought that he would end up playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Los Angeles Lakers couldn’t get Cousins, and that’s how Jim Buss got fired in 2017. In 2018, the Lakers passed on Cousins, and he signed a deal with the Golden State Warriors. This year, he is a Laker. Both sides speak the same language, and that’s how the deal was sealed. What does Cousins think about his new family?

“What’s really hitting me is imma be on the same floor with LeBron James, and I really don’t know how I’m gonna react,” he said.

LeBron didn’t hide his excitement to play with Cousins. They should have played on the same team a few years ago when LeBron was younger and Cousins didn’t suffer all those injuries.

Cousins will play his second season after injuring his Achilles tendon. In his last 15 regular-season games last season, Cousins had 17.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Frank Vogel has high expectations. He said, “This is the year that I think that [he] hopefully starts to really gain his form, and if he does, then we have one of the most powerful, dominant players in the game.”

Davis likes his new teammate, too.

“Before he came to New Orleans I knew him off the floor very well, and then on the floor, all the media attention he got of being ‘emotional.’ I didn’t really see that. Me and him are really close, and I kind of told him before, ‘we got one goal,’ so he understood.

“I think when you’re in a situation like this, it was rarely talked about him being ‘emotional.’ So when you come to another situation like this, I don’t think it’s going to be a problem at all, because we have one goal, and that’s to win.

“I love playing with DeMarcus. Obviously we didn’t want it to end, but obviously he had to move on and do what’s best for him and his family. Now we’ve got the opportunity to reunite in a great situation, so I’m excited about that.”
