Glenn Robinson III Signs With Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have just got someone to replace Kevin Durant. The franchise reached an agreement with Glenn Robinson III. The starting forward was offered a two-year contract and a player option on his second year. Shams Charania of The Athletic was among the first to confirm the information.

Free agent Glenn Robinson has agreed to a two-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, with a second-year player option, agent Jelani Floyd of @beyond_am tells The Athletic and Stadium.”

Robinson played in 47 games for the Detroit Pistons last season. He started 18 games and averaged 4.2 points in just 13 minutes per game. He was an unrestricted free agent after the Pistons declined their team option on the player.

The Michigan product was drafted in the second round of the 2014 draft by the Timberwolves and has made several stops around the league during his five-year career. He spent three seasons with the Pacers.

It’s not like Robinson will replace much of Durant’s performance with the team, but he will provide a nice wing depth. The Warriors lost Durant to the Brooklyn Nets and traded Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies in a cost-cutting move that provided a $17.2 million trade exception. The Golden State will play Alfonzo McKinnie at the wing spot.

By the end of the NBA moratorium, the Warriors will have signed 13 players to their roster. This number will go down to 12 because the team will probably waive Shaun Livingston whom will be owed $2 million of his $7.7 million contract if he is waived before July 10.NBA teams may hold as many as 15 players on their regular-season roster. However, teams usually have between 18-22 players to open training camp.

The Warriors rebuilt their roster this offseason. D’Angelo Russell was a fresh option. He is a former All-Star, and he will get most of the buzz. Willie Cauley-Stein was selected in the lottery, and he belongs to the similar class. Robinson isn’t in the same tier as these two players, but his contract provides an interesting change in organizational aspect for the Warriors. Good luck, Robinson!
