Kyle Korver Officially Becomes A Free Agent

Many players found homes in different teams, but some of them became free agents. This summer is full of surprises, and almost every star player signed huge contract with other teams. Kevin Durant left the Golden State Warriors to join the Brooklyn Nets. Kyrie Irving followed his example, and left the Boston Celtics. There’s another veteran who found himself on the open market a week into July, and many suitors are probably trying to offer him a good deal. It’s Kyle Korver.

The Phoenix Suns agreed to waive veteran sharpshooter Korver paving the way for him to be an unrestricted free agent. Numerous reports confirm that a great number of contenders are interested in signing the veteran.

The Los Angeles Lakers are considered favorites. Los Angeles is a logical landing spot for Korver. Rob Pelinka is trying to build a roster around LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Korver has already teamed up with LeBron during their time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He will have other options beyond the Purple and Gold as well if he is convinced that the Lakers aren’t ideal for him.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers are three of the teams that the veteran will take into consideration once he clears waivers after Phoenix decided to waive him and take the $3.4 million he was owed for the 2019-20 campaign.

“Suns are planning to buyout the partially guaranteed contract of Kyle Korver, league sources tell ESPN. Lakers, Sixers and Bucks are frontrunners to sign Korver once he clears waivers, sources said.”

According to Yahoo Sports, “The Suns have waived Korver, it is on the NBA’s official transactions list. The move is financial, Korver is owed $7.5 million next season but only $3.4 million of that was guaranteed, waiving him saves a little over $4 million. Which is a lot of money, even if your last name is Bezos. When Korver clears waivers he will be an unrestricted free agent.  The LakersBucks, and Sixers — all teams who could use a shooter — are lined up to get him.”

Will the Lakers sign Korver?
