Lakers star LeBron James is making headlines, and it has nothing to do with his season with the team. The Lakers missed the playoffs this season, and that gave LeBron a lot of time to get ready for the filming of Space Jam 2.
The filming has already started, and LeBron can’t hide his excitement. The king of basketball posts photos and videos of the set. He is doing this to tease his fans, and in the latest photo we can see a basketball court and a green screen. We all know what that means.
We can’t really tell you more about the scene, but one thing stands for sure, LeBron is filming a scene.
The Space Jam sequel will focus on LeBron, and he will be accompanied by a few basketball stars, including Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson and Damian Lillard. The set will also feature several WNBA stars.
Thompson tore his ACL in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, but we saw him on set this offseason. Space Jam 2 is a big thing after all. It’s so big that LeBron got a full-size basketball court.
“The Space Jam 2 workout court for players is set up at NBA superfan Jimmy Goldstein’s house in LA, featuring LeBron James’ logo,” ESPN’s Nick DePaula tweeted.
Do you know that Michael Jordan wanted Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin on the set? According to him, Griffin is a nice fit.
It seems like Griffin likes the idea, too. He said, “Absolutely, absolutely. I’d love to be involved in any capacity, really. Space Jamwas a huge part of my childhood. I actually had a Space Jam-themed birthday party as a teen. Then, when I turned 21, my friends got me a Space Jam cake again just to re-live the glory days…. If you told me when I was 8 years old that I could possibly have a chance to be in Space Jam 2, it would have blown my mind. That would just be like another check off the bucket list.”
We can’t wait to watch the sequel. It will be released on July 16, 2021.
