Los Angeles Lakers Sign Former All-Star Center

The Los Angeles Lakers are building their roster, and this time they added a former All-Star.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed that the Lakers signed a deal with DeMarcus Cousins. He signed a one-year deal worth $2.3 million. It’s the minimum for someone with his experience.

Cousins tore his Achilles tendon in 2018. Before the injury, he averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in his final season with the New Orleans Pelicans. He also suffered a torn quad in the first round of the playoffs.

Playing alongside LeBron would be awesome.

“They got the best player in the world. They’ve got a chance of beating the Warriors. We’ll see what happens when the ball goes up,” Cousins said in one of his interviews.

He was happy with the Warriors. Nothing changes that theory.

“It’s a team full of high IQs. I believe everyone on our team has a very high IQ when it comes to the game of basketball. All of us know how to play the game of basketball. We got guys with the same characteristics that – it’s like play-doh. You can mold them into whatever you want them to be.”

However, the quad injury put an end to his season.

Shams Charania reported about Cousins’ quad injury.

Warriors All-Star DeMarcus Cousins has been diagnosed with a torn left quad, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. Devastating for Cousins, who had MRI early this morning. This is probably season-ending for Cousins, but he and the team will see how he responds within the first two weeks of rehab that is not expected to require surgery, sources said.”

His teammates were here to support him.

“We’ll rally behind him, tell him it’s far from the end of the world, tell him he has so much great basketball ahead of him,” said Klay Thompson. “He believes that. … He’ll bounce back. I know he will. He’s a fighter.”

“It’s tough for sure, you feel for him considering all he’s been in this last year,” added Warriors guard Stephen Curry. “This is a big stage, the playoffs. He’s been looking forward to this. I don’t know the extent of the injury at this point but hope he gets back sooner than later. But just man to man in terms of him and what he’s been through, it’s tough. There’s no sugarcoating it. You hate seeing that opportunity on this big stage taken away from him like that.”
