Report: Los Angeles Lakers To Change LeBron James’ Position

The Los Angeles Lakers invested a lot of money in their wings and big players. Kawhi Leonard signed a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. Avery Bradly, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Danny Green got huge deals to play with the team. JaVale McGee and DeMarcus Cousins are expected to split up their minutes at center. What about point guard?

The team has avoided this position. Alex Caruso, Quinn Cook and Rajon Rondo signed a deal, but they won’t make $3 million next season. So, what will happen with this position?

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that the Lakers will probably start LeBron James at point guard. Is this why they decided to spend all that money on the wing?

This may actually be the best plan for LeBron’s skills.

“The new-look Los Angeles Lakers are heading into the 2019-20 season with the intention of starting LeBron James at point guard, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

“James, 34, will be entering his 17th NBA season and is prepared to become the floor general in an effort to maximize a roster that’s suddenly built to contend for a championship with the addition of All-Star forward Anthony Davis and a few complementary pieces.

“James, a four-time league MVP, and newly acquired Danny Green are expected to start in the backcourt, sources said.

“James was limited to a career-low 55 games in his first season with the Lakers because of a groin injury, but he has since recovered and is in great shape with no restrictions, sources said. A superstar with an immense skill set, the 6-foot-8 James has started at the point sparingly throughout his career. But it’s a role he’s more than comfortable handling because he’s operated primarily as a point-forward for the bulk of his career.

“Rajon Rondo, Quinn Cook and Alex Caruso are the other point guards on the roster. Lonzo Ball, who was traded to New Orleans, and Rondo handled the role last season. With the league being so point-guard driven, head coach Frank Vogel will look to unleash another element of James’ game.”

Let’s see if this plan works for the team. What do you think?
