Report: Tom Brady Gets Day Off For Friday’s Practice… Not Injury-Related

The New England Patriots held their second practice Friday morning without Tom Brady. Although he was present for the whole session, Brady did not take part in any drills which initially did raise some concerns.

However, according to a recent report, Brady’s day off had nothing to do with injury or something similar. It was simply a day off for the quarterback.

Brady observed the training in shorts, a T-shirt, a blue cutoff sweatshirt and sneakers.

Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham got the reps under center during practice, but it’s safe to say that Brady’s absence didn’t go unnoticed.

This is not something that’s usual for Brady’s training camp actions. Though the team often lightens his workload in various sessions throughout the summer, he’s never been on practice in street clothes.

As for the other Patriots players who had to rest, Thomas, Ebner, Michel and Webster are on the physically unable to perform list, and Edelman is recovering from a broken thumb.

Center David Andrews, defensive end Michael Bennett and offensive tackles Cole Croston (PUP) and Yodny Cajuste (NFI) missed second day of practice as well.

Safety Patrick Chung practiced in a red non-contact jersey.

The Patriots also had one new arrival – an unidentified offensive lineman wearing No. 63. That number previously belonged to guard/center Brian Schwenke, who retired earlier this week.
