A few days ago, Brady had an interview with NFL Network’s Willie McGinest in which he spoke about returning to practice. He said:

“I’m excited, for this year, for this team. It’s a tough journey and it’s a long haul. This was our first day in pads and there’s a lot to learn. It’s been a lot of turnover and we’re trying some new things and there are some growing pains but we’ve got about five weeks to get ready and that’s what the goal is.”

Tom Brady serves as an inspiration to all younger Patriots players who’ve said they watch him come to practice “feeling like a 25-year old.” McGinest asked him how is it like to have all those young players and be able to influence and encourage them.

“I feel like I had… you know, seeing you, seeing Rodney, seeing Troy out here, Randy… those are the guys I’ve always looked up to,” said Brady. “And you guys set the example for me. And now, you know, time’s changed and now I’ve got to set the example for the younger guys. I think when you learn and you’re around great guys that teach you, then it’s my responsibility teaching the next guys.”

“That’s what football’s about,” he added. “You respect the game – I love the game, I love the process, my teammates love it, our coaches love it and if you love football, being here in Foxborough in late July and August is the place you wanna be in.”

“We know this is the last year in your contract and we know you’ve got a lot more of football left and you’ve still got that appetite for the sport and you still got a lot left in you. I think now the bigger question is how much time you get to spend with your family?,” asked Wille.

“When the season comes, you don’t have the time and energy that you have in offseason. I got a lot of time with my kids, we took a lot of trips and I think it’s good for them to know that dad is going to work too. To be able to do both – I don’t think there’s anything better for me,” stated Brady.
