Why Cape Cod Shark, ‘Jules’ Is Named After Pats’ Julian Edelman

If you can’t find Julian Edelman in Foxboro, look for him in the waters of Cape Cod, Mass. Just kidding. But, we are pretty serious about the shark named Jules.

There is a live shark named after the Super Bowl MVP, and the information was confirmed by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.

“Meet Jules! Originally tagged in 2011 and unamed until now, he’s one of our most reliable sharks—returning every year since. Like @Edelman11, he dropped his coverage and his squirrelly behavior made it hard to get a new tag in him. Hard work pays off, and he was retagged Tuesday.”

Well, yes, Edelman is one of the toughest players in the NFL which is why he was named the Super Bowl MVP.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick knows it best.

“Nobody has worked harder in my career than Julian to develop his skills and his craft in a position — other than, I’d say, Steve Neal — other than Julian, because he really didn’t have any background in it. We put him on defense and put him against good players in the slot, and obviously, he’s excelled as a receiver for a player that had no real college background doing that.

“I’d say the game — and we’ve talked about this — the game that really impressed me the most in watching Julian was the Ohio State game. He didn’t have a lot of blocking, and they were getting killed by Ohio State, but what you saw in that game was how competitive he was, how hard he was to tackle and how tough he was. Even though it was three, four touchdowns, whatever it was they were behind by, he played the game with an intensity honestly was hard for them to handle. They had a difficult time with him. So you could see the competitiveness on film and in the workouts.”

Edelman entered the 2018 season with a suspension, but that’s not going to happen this year. He is doing his best to sharpen his skills, and Tom Brady is here to keep him moving. They are the best duo on the Patriots roster.
