Warriors’ Willie Cauley-Stein Reveals Odd Pregame Meal

During an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session, Golden State Warriors center Willie Cauley-Stein was asked during if he had any weird pregame rituals. He said “no,” but then revealed what his pregame meal is – and it’s strange to say the least.

Apparently Cauley-Stein likes to eat corn dogs before stepping on the court for NBA games. Corn dogs.

Willie also revealed his favorite sports team that’s not in the NBA – the Kansas City Chiefs, which makes sense as it was the closest pro sports team to where he grew up in Spearville, Kan.

Back when he played college basketball at the University of Kentucky, Cauley-Stein sported the number 15, but when he got drafted in 2015, that number was already taken by DeMarcus Cousins, his former teammate on the Kings and the former Warriors player. So, Willie switched to the number 00. Why?

“Used to play the game Double 007 Goldeneye on N64…the rest is history,” he said during the AMA. Despite the influence of the Nintendo 64 classic, Cauley-Stein said his “all-time” favorite video game is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

The Warriors center also spoke about going fishing with Klay Thompson and said it “sounds like fun.”

He’s really excited about joining the Warriors, so much that he revealed that he agreed to play for the team before he even heard how much they were going to pay him.

He was also asked about what he’s looking forward to most when it comes to playing with Curry.

“Learning from one of the best to ever do it and growing my game,” Cauley-Stein said. “Really the entire team, being able to meet them and grow together is key!”

And regarding his new coach, he stated:

“REALLY good coach…cares about the players. Gives off great energy. Haven’t talked a lot, but from the times I’ve spoken to him just makes me want to get to know him more.”

For Willie Cauley-Stein, the hardest player to guard in the NBA was Cousins, who he will likely face several times when the Warriors take on the Los Angeles Lakers next season.
