Ed Reed Offered To Coach Patriots’ DBs, Bill Belichick Reacts Back

Ed Reed was all-in when it comes to toppling the New England Patriots throughout his professional career. However, he is now ready to help the team win games.

The Hall of Fame safety went on “The Dan Patrick Show” and talked about the possibility to join the Patriots coaching staff. Reed almost applied for the job of Patriots defensive-backs coach. According to him, head coach Bill Belichick taught him a lot as a player, and he now wants to keep learning from the best.

Belichick is the ultimate coach, and he will sure give Reed a brilliant lesson.

“I told him I was thinking about putting in an offer to take his DB (defensive backs) job,” Reed said. “He was blown away by that.

“I don’t know. I know Coach (Belichick) would be something I wouldn’t mind learning (from) how to be a better coach. I learned so much from watching him and understanding after winning a championship, knowing what it took to win a championship. I had a lot of coach-ear when I played and I think coaches could attest to that on the conversations we’ve had. … Just watching Coach Belichick over the years, interviews, what have you, his book, reading his book and just how he conducted things for his team helped me to be a better leader on my team.”

Reed told The Buffalo news last Friday he’s “love” to join the New England Patriots coaching staff. His only coaching experience in the league happened in 2016 when Reed was an assistant defensive backs coach for the Buffalo Bills.

The Patriots don’t have a defensive coordinator of defensive backs coach, and Belichick will probably handle most of the play-calling duties on that part of the game. If he still needs help, working with one of the best defensive backs in NFL history would definitely be an option. Well, we don’t really think that Belichick will need help. He never needs help.

The Patriots are off to another big win, and they are currently waiting for Julian Edelman to return to the field. Good luck with this one, champs!
