Tom Brady Shares Message For Danny Amendola On Instagram

The New England Patriots have met a lot of old friends this week. Ahead of Thursday’s preseason opener against the Detroit Lions, the Pats had three joint session practices in the Motor City with a number of former Patriots now playing with the Lions. Former defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is one of them. He is entering his second season as the head coach for the Detroit Lions. Danny Amendola is one of them.

He had a warm reunion with quarterback Tom Brady during joint sessions, and then shared an image on his Instagram story. TB12 re-shared the photo with a special message for Amendola.

“11 years @dannyamendola! So proud of you! Undrafted to super Bowl champion and still proving them all wrong!!!” the quarterback wrote.

This reunion was really special for Amendola. After the joint practice, he said Brady’s continued success at age 42 does not come as asurprise for him.

“Nah, he can play forever,” the former Patriots wide receiver said with a smile. “He’s a great quarterback. He’s in great shape, great condition, obviously, and I’m excited to see him.

“He works extremely hard and is very deserving for all he’s got. I’m happy for him. He’s a good friend, so any time I get to watch him play football is good.”

Danny Amendola left the Pats after the 2017 season. He spent one year with the Miami Dolphins and now plays with Detroit. Amendola is one of a dozen ex-Patriots on the Lions’ current roster.

“A lot of familiar faces,” Amendola said. “But luckily it’s a lot of good football players, so we get to get good work in and try to get better here in camp, run around a bit and try to get ready for the season. I’m excited they’re here.”

When it comes to Patricia, Amendola says there are a lot of similarities in the ways the two teams are run.

“No question,” he said. “Coach (Patricia) just has a great program, and he’s developing a great organization, so I’m happy to be here. I’m happy to be a part of something, and I’m going to do my best to fulfill my role on the team and try to expand that and help this team win.”
