Watch: All Four Patriots TDs From Epic Preseason Win Vs. Lions

Week 1 of the NFL preseason isn’t considered a serious game for players, but the New England Patriots smashed the Detroit Lions in a big way. The Patriots did a really good job, and we all know what that means. This season will be their best, and they will sure win the Super Bowl.

After three joint practices, the Patriots defeated the Lions 31-3 at Ford Field in the preseason opener. The team had four touchdowns, and it was brilliant.

“Obviously a long night for us here with the game,” Lions coach Matt Patricia said. “We got to do a better job of going out and competing and we have to do a better job of executing the plays that we need to execute at. Coaching, playing all of it. It’s the first game that we’ve played, any of us here, in seven months or so. We got a lot of work to do.”

According to Henry McKenna, there are a few winners of this game and Derek Rivers is one of them.

“This preseason is tremendously important for his future in the NFL. While he got off to a bad start by rushing past the passer — a big no-no for Bill Belichick — on a Tom Savage scramble for 15 yards, Rivers bounced back by logging three tackles and two sacks.”

The same applies to Jakobi Meyers. “He has been a training camp darling. But could he be a preseason darling, too? Meyers put up six catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns. He has been the biggest surprise of training camp, and is making huge progress in a fight for a roster spot.”

“In his return to New England, he did more of what he’d been doing during training camp — and what established him as an elite linebacker in 2015,” McKenna wrote of Jamie Collins. “He was all over the field, but always near the football. He did well setting the edge in the run game, clogging up running lanes for the Lions running backs. Collins also logged a sack.”

We are looking forward to the next game. Things are getting really hot!
