Brandon King Carted Off Field After Leg Injury Vs. Panthers

The New England Patriots may be dealing with a terrible loss after Brandon King was carted off the field. The Patriots special teams units may have taken a big blow Thursday night when the linebacker had to leave the game at the end of the first half.

King has a defensive back’s number, but is considered a linebacker. He is one of the Patriots’ key special teamers and one of the team’s most powerful players in the kicking game.

The linebacker was slow to get up after a punt return at the end of the first half. The whole thing ended with a bunch of Patriots teammates coming over to see what happened as he was lying on the field.

King was put onto a cart and taken off the field. He didn’t forget to raise a fist on his way out.

“New England Patriots linebacker and core special teams player Brandon King was carted off the field and to the locker room late in the second quarter vs. the Carolina Panthers after suffering what looked to be a bad leg injury.

“King was clutching his leg after a defensive play, which then warranted the arrival of the Patriots’ training staff and a bevy of his teammates to come out to him on the field.”

The 26-year-old entered the NFL as an undrafted defensive back in 2015. He spent his entire professional career playing with the Patriots.

King’s injury was the second notable injury during the Patriots’ home opener. Tight end Ben Watson had to leave the game due to a head injury. The medical staff checked him up, and Watson made his way to the Patriots locker room.

Rookie running back Damien Harris got hit on a play fake in the middle of Jarrett Stidham’s first drive of the game. The medical staff came out to check on him, and helped him walk to the sideline medical tent. Harris left the sideline, and went to the locker room with two minutes left in the half.

Harris was a third-round pick of the 2019 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama.
