Dwight Howard Reportedly ‘Excited About The Prospect’ Of Teaming Up With LeBron James

Dwight Howard has always played alongside some of the greatest basketball stars. He played with Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant and James Harden. There’s a huge chance that he plays with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports Howard’s interest in joining the Los Angeles Lakers.

“By all accounts, Dwight Howard is motivated right now and he wants to be a part of a potential Lakers team and I’m told he’s excited about the prospect of joining LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and really doing whatever is asked of him: rebounding, blocking shots, defending—whatever it takes for him to be a part of a championship contender and essentially capping off his career with a title and redeeming himself from that one season he spent in L.A.”

NBA execs approve this idea.

“Personal baggage aside, I would sign him,” an executive said. “He’s clearly the best player available if he’s healthy. We’ve heard the same song from him for years . But for the minimum? Why not? If it doesn’t work, they move on.”

Howard has discussed the chance to join the Lakers in multiple occasions. He even gave Anthony Davis a piece of advice.

“I would tell him to just enjoy the moment and enjoy this season,” Howard said in an interview with Arash Markazi of the Los Angeles Times.

“When I was here, unfortunately things happened where we didn’t win, guys got hurt, but I enjoyed the city, I enjoyed the people and I had some really great relationships with people that came from being out here.

“So there were some positives. We just didn’t win that season, and that’s what happens when you play basketball. Things may look good, but injuries and other issues may happen and things might not work out, but I still had a good time in L.A.”

His future is still hanging in the air, but signing with the Lakers looks like a good idea for Howard.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I do love L.A. Staples Center is going to be rocking this season. When I played there it was rocking every night. The atmosphere is crazy, not just for the Lakers but the Clippers too. I just think all the hard work they’ve put in is paying off now. They’ve always been viewed as the Lakers’ little brother, but they decided to stand out and be different and you have to thank guys like Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul for laying the foundation for this team, and then what Doc [Rivers] has done has been great. This is just all that hard work paying off.”
