Julian Edelman Sends Inspirational Message Before Preseason Opener

The New England Patriots didn’t have Julian Edelman in the preseason opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night. However, this doesn’t mean that he is all happy and excited about the upcoming season.

Edelman is inactive due to the thumb injury he suffered recently. He took to Twitter on Thursday to recall an interesting game that took place a decade ago. Edelman was 23 at the time and he ran back a punt for a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in his rookie season with the team.

“August 13, 2009. On this day I was able to achieve a goal I had set for myself at a very young age. To all the young guys out there who are taking the long road, I want to wish you luck. Keep pushing, keep grinding, keep improving and good things will come. Now let’s eat fellas.”

In 2018, Edelman had 74 catches for 850 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games. His season wasn’t really good and he even started it with a suspension, but his preseason was magnificent. Edelman was named the Super Bowl MVP, and that’s the greatest award ever. The receiver is looking forward to having another good season, and he hopes to get Rob Gronkowski back on the field.
“I’m extremely excited for the new year. This is a new team. With training camp coming up, this is kind of like when school’s back in session. We had summer break. You get to see the fellas. But this is where you learn the team, learn (about) each other, become accountable for each other, and work hard together, and create a consistency together,” he said. “This is the beginning shape form of your team, these next few weeks. It’s a crucial point. We put a lot of hard work in during the spring. It’s the next step toward playing with other teams. So it’s definitely exciting.”

Edelman sent everyone a message, saying he is in perfect condition for the season. Will Gronk join his team? There’s still chance that he returns, but we can’t really confirm that. Let’s see what pops in his mind this season.
