Video: Steph Curry Gets Owned By 7-Foot High School Player

Golden State warriors star point guard Steph Curry lost the NBA Finals, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and a duel with a high school player.

Yes, you read that right. Curry hosted his sixth annual SC30 Select Camp, and Minneapolis junior Chet Holmgren pulled out a nice behind-the-back crossover to get by Curry. Imagine that!

“Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry held his SC30 Select Camp in the Bay Area this week, which brought some of the top high school prospects to learn from the two-time MVP.

“As he’s done in past years of the camp, Curry has been known to jump in and participate in the camp scrimmages. And, predictably, he put on a show. But at least one high school star will leave the camp with some ultimate bragging rights.

Chet Holmgren, a 7-foot junior from Minneapolis, found himself in an isolation opportunity against Curry, and he didn’t hesitate to throw some nifty dribbles at the Warriors star and drive by him for a dunk.

“Sure, Curry has never been known as an elite defender (and found himself with a considerable size disadvantage), but he’s still Steph Curry. Holmgren, who is regarded as a top-10 prospect in his class and considering Minnesota, Purdue and Texas, will always be able to say that he crossed over Steph Curry. It doesn’t get much more epic than that for a 16-year-old.”

Holmgren ad a few more nice moves during the camp, including a swat of a Curry layup and a 3-pointer in front of the Warrior.

Meanwhile, Curry can’t forget Game 6 of the semifinals and Durant’s departure.

“I was hyped because I had heard all the noise going into that game,” he said. “Honestly, I think we had a little of that f-k you mentality.”

“The air came out of the entire building,” Curry said in reference to Durant’s injury.

“The air came out of the entire building when they saw him limping,” he added. “Took a timeout, everyone kind of looked at each on the bench. We knew what we had to do. Everybody had to step their game up, and those next 14 minutes were pretty awesome in terms of responding.”
