Julian Edelman Explains What Means To Have Demaryius Thomas On Patriots

The New England Patriots changed their wide receiver unit. Chris Hogan, Cordarrelle Patterson and a few others left the team this offseason. The Patriots added veterans Demaryius Thomas and Josh Gordon to the roster. Jakobi Meyers and N’Keal Harry made the roster thanks to their great skills.

Thomas’ addition may have a big impact on the Patriots. He has great performance on the field, and his younger teammates have a lot to learn from him.

“I think it’s awesome having a guy like Demaryius in there,” Patriots wideout Julian Edelman said after Friday’s practice.

“He’s a veteran-type guy. He’s made a lot of big plays in this league. He’s had a lot of production in this league. He’s played in a lot of big games. Anytime you have someone like that in your room it’s awesome. The younger guys get to see how he prepares and how a professional is supposed to look.”

Thomas suffered a torn Achilles injury during a game in December. His recovery was impressive, and he returned to practice last month. He made his preseason debut in the fourth and final game with the team.

The veteran played great in the preseason game against the New York Giants. He tallied seven receptions for 87 yards and two scores with rookie Jarrett Stidham at quarterback. It’s really impressive how he moved and ran on the field. It looks like he is ready to see some serious action.

We don’t have much information about the veteran’s status for Sunday night’s regular season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Thomas practiced all week, but was also added to the injury report as a limited participant due to his hamstring issue.

Last season, Thomas proved everyone that he can be of great help for the team. He had 59 receptions for 677 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games. New England should expect a similar production in 2019. That would be really great for the champions, and that’s exactly what Tom Brady needs at the moment.

This season is of great importance for everybody, especially the GOAT. The Patriots will do their best to win another trophy.
