Report: Antonio Brown Won’t Be Placed On NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List

Antonio Brown’s personal problems may put an end to his professional career. The newly acquired Patriot is facing rape and sexual assault accusations, and he may end up on the NFL Commissioner’s exempt list. But, that won’t happen this week, and Brown will probably play in Miami.

Adam Schefter was the first to report the information.

“At this point, NFL will not place Antonio Brown on commissioner exempt list, as there is no criminal investigation, making him eligible to play Sunday vs. Miami, per sources. NFL has opened its investigation, which will include interviews with Antonio Brown and his accuser.”

The New England Patriots have made a statement on the civil lawsuit Brown deals with at the moment.

“We take these allegations very seriously,” the statement read. “Under no circumstance does this organization condone sexual violence or assault. The league has informed us that they will be investigating. We will have no further comment while that investigation takes place.”

There’s no criminal investigation against the wide receiver. The NFL can’t put him on the commissioner’s exempt list. The Patriots will have to make a big decision prior to Sunday’s game. These accusations are really serious.

Larry Moss Jr., Brown’s former stepfather, said he is not surprised by the development of events.

“I can’t tell you that he did what they said he did,’’ Moss told USA TODAY Sports. “But I know he’s very abusive to women. As far as just raping somebody, (Brown) just feels like he can have whatever he wants. He’s just empowered that way. So it doesn’t surprise me that this kind of allegation came out about him.’’

Moss said he helped raise Brown in Miami-Dade County in Florida between the ages of 5 and 17. Brown’s current problems can be traced to that period of his life. People knew him as “Tony.”

“A lot of things that Tony’s doing, nothing surprises me,’’ Moss said. “I’m surprised that it took them this long to figure him out. Because he’s been this way since he’s been 12 years old.’’

Well, let’s see what happens this week. Will the Patriots let Brown play?
