Watch: Alex Caruso Expresses LeBron James’ Impact on the Lakers

Alex Caruso is officially a full-fledged member of the Los Angeles Lakers team for the upcoming 2019-20 season. Caruso averaged 17.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game in April, and is expected to start the season with a bigger role than last year.

Caruso will share point guard duties with Rajon Rondo and Quinn Cook. He will have a big chance to establish himself as the de-facto starter. It’s a big season for him, and he plans to give his best.

The player is expected to build a strong relationship with LeBron James. He knows how to make smart cuts to the basket and open three-pointers. That’s exactly what LeBron needs on the floor.

It looks like Caruso is well aware of the fact that he fits nicely alongside LeBron. According to him, LeBron makes the game so easy for him. He added that he and LeBron read one another really well, noting that there’s mutual trust.

“He makes the game so easy for me. He gets so much attention rightfully so. He’s arguably I think he’s the best players in the world. He’s one of the best players the game has ever seen & maybe the best in the game right now.”

Caruso also discussed the impact Anthony Davis brings to the team. If you ask him, he will say that the Lakers may be one of the best defensive teams in the NBA this season.

He had a long road to the NBA, but he is here now.

“Even though the two-way is technically an NBA contract, I count this as my first one,” Caruso said of his contract. “I’m not gonna lie and say I wasn’t super hyped … Everybody who goes undrafted, that’s the plan they say out loud, but you never know if it will happen.”

But, that doesn’t change the fact that he is just a normal guy.

“I’m a normal guy, I go to the grocery store,” Caruso says. “That’s my favorite part about this whole thing for me. I get to continue being the normal person that I am.” He pauses proudly. “It’s just that now I get to play basketball for the Lakers, too.”
