Josh Gordon Reportedly Enjoying ‘Pretty Smooth’ Reintegration Into Pats’ Offense

Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon was traded from the Cleveland Browns twelve months ago. His NFL suspension was lifted four weeks ago. In other words, Gordon has a so many things to be happy for.

“It feels like I’m back home,” the veteran wide receiver said Thursday. “It’s a home environment — a family environment. I love these guys. They (rallied) around me to support me and show me love, and I appreciate that each and every day that I’m here. It’s just easy to come in and do what I have to do.”

Gordon joined the Patriots three games into the 2018 season, and he now feels more comfortable in the team’s offensive line. He worked out with quarterback Tom Brady this offseason and was really active throughout his suspension.

“Last year was kind of on the fly,” Gordon said. “I got traded (two weeks) into the season. I had to pick it up as I was going along. And with the injury at the same time, it was a lot to take on. This year, I have more familiarity with it. I got extra time in the offseason to study what I already knew, and then when I got in here, I was able to kind of pick up where I left off — and even better, I would say. So it’s pretty smooth right now.”

Gordon was able to catch three passes on four targets for 73 yards and a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers in his first game from the suspension.

“Josh has worked hard, and he’s made progress,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday. “I think he still has a long way to go. We have 14 regular-season games left, so we’ll see how it goes.”

The wide receiver was also productive against the Dolphins.
“He looks as good as he’s ever looked,” Gase said in a conference call with New England reporters. “I mean, he looks big to me, in a good way. He looks like he’s in really good shape, and he’s one of those guys, man. You do everything you can to just try to contain him. It’s extremely hard, especially with the crew that (the Patriots) have.”
