Bill Belichick Shouts Out New Father James White

Kyle Van Noy and James White missed a game of the regular season due to non-injury-related reasons. Well, they had a really good reason. Becoming a dad is a good reason, right?

White missed Sunday’s game against the New York Jets because his wife, Diana, was delivering.

Head coach Bill Belichick mentioned White during his postgame speech in the locker room.

“Let’s keep stringing them together here; we’ve got a long way to go.

“We added another son to our roster with James,” he told the team.

We haven’t heard from White and his wife, but it looks like everything went well.

Belichick even made a joke about the Super Bowl babies during his appearance on WEEI’s “Ordway, Merloni & Fauria.”

“Must have been some post-Super Bowl celebrations… we’re really pumping ‘em out,” he said.

Missing played due to a childbirth is followed by a great organization and it has something to do with the Patriots’ policy.

“Yeah, we handle it internally. I’ve coached for quite a while as a head coach in two different organizations. I don’t think that’s ever been an issue. I’ve always talked about it with the player. It’s not like it’s a surprise. It’s something that there’s certainly a lead-up period to and communicate about it and depending on the time, the situation, the circumstances and all that, you take everything into consideration.

“Everybody wants to do what’s best and we arrive at that conclusion. Again, there are a lot of variables on that – what the individual’s situation is with the birth, where the game is, so forth and so on. There’s a lot of things that could come into play. I think it’s just good communication and try to find out as much information as you can. You never have all of it. Sometimes you have to call an audible, but you figure it out and then just everybody has the best interest of everything that’s involved and try to make a good decision on that.”

The great Belichick has the solution to every situation on the field. He works on the winning formula all the time, and as we can see, it’s a smooth sailing.
