Jordan Poole Shares Excitement To Play For Warriors, Learn From Steph Curry

Jordan Poole is the 28th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Golden State Warriors made a bold move by drafting Poole. Most pundits are worried about his “gunner” mentality and lack of physical profile. Well, the Warriors are used to this type of pressure. They turned Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in big stars, right?

Poole is really happy about his opportunity to play Curry.

“It was amazing, man, just kind of finally being able to meet Steph, we talked a lot. We had been texting a little bit, but just being able to finally meet him and go up against him,” Poole said in Logan Murdock’s story.

“A couple of months ago, I was watching him on TV. Now, he’s my teammate. He’s an amazing guy and he’s somebody that’s really fun and to look up to. So being able to just to learn from one of the greatest shooters in the game is… I’m excited for it, man.”

Being drafted by the Warriors was a great honor for the rookie.

“It’s an amazing organization, I’m just coming in and I know only so little about the entire situation,” Poole said during his introductory press conference. “Hopefully, we can find a way to bring everybody back.”

The rookie is super confident about his contribution to the team.

“I wouldn’t feel pressure,” he said. “I feel like scoring is a strength of mine and it’s something has gotten me to this level and it’s upgraded me as an individual so I think that’s another reason why they’ve wanted me here.

“I have a really good opportunity obviously with Klay out … but just coming in learning, whether it’s in practice and summer league and being a sponge and taking everything in. The opportunity will present itself, but being able to feel like I can make an impact and if there’s an opportunity I’m definitely going to try to take it.”

Poole will have to work on his development just like any other rookie.

“I think that I know that personally and obviously everyone else knows that as well,” he admitted. “But it’s an improvement that I plan on making. I’ve made it from high school to freshman year to sophomore year. That just comes with time and physically and your body. I’m still learning my body but it’s something I’m working on a lot. Being able to be a two-way player offensively and defensively.”
