Julian Edelman Addresses Tom Brady’s Condition Entering 20th NFL Season

Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman missed some real action, and the same applies to quarterback Tom Brady. These two haven’t played a lot of real football since winning their sixth Lombardy trophy. The quarterback is entering his 20th NFL season with the Patriots.

Edelman missed Patriots training camp and the preseason due to his thumb injury. He saw some preseason action against the New York Giants, but played just a few snaps. Brady played in the team’s third preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. TB12 had three series and left the game.

The Patriots nation is looking forward to seeing Brady and his favorite receiver back on the field together. Edelman talked about Brady’s condition. Nothing changed.

“He looks like Tom Brady,” Edelman said after Friday’s practice. “It’s a testament to how hard he works, not only during the season but in the offseason. How he takes care of himself. He looks great. You’d have to ask (offensive coordinator) Josh (McDaniels) more, but catching the ball from him, he looks like Tom Brady. I’m more focused on how I’m gonna look, but Tom looks good.”

The wide receiver was satisfied with his action in the preseason.

“It was awesome,” Edelman said. “Anytime you go out and you get to compete with your team and get hit, that’s what you look forward to. That was then, and now we’re looking forward to the Pittsburgh Steelers and seeing what they’re gonna do.”

Losing that much time is bad for players working their way back from an injury. But, Edelman had enough time to practice, and he is ready for some serious action.

“We did have a good amount of practice reps,” Edelman said. “You also take mental reps. Nothing comes easy, and any time you have to go out there and perform, you definitely have to had prepared well, and I think that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Demaryius Thomas and Josh Gordon are back in the game, too. The Patriots need their veterans healthy, and hopefully, we will see them play their best football. This season is important for the champions. Let’s go!
