Julian Edelman Addresses On Patriots’ Decision to Sign Antonio Brown

The New England Patriots didn’t need a new wide receiver, but they decided to sign Antonio Brown right after the Oakland Raiders released him. His signing was followed by rape accusations. But, it looks like he will play with the team against Miami. What does Julian Edelman think about this?

“Coach is going to do what is best for the team, what he feels is best for the team,”Edelman said. “Adding Antonio, he feels that’s best for our team. Quite frankly, he’s a a really good football player. He works his tail off. He practiced this week. I think with a player like him, a player of his caliber, he’s going to raise the bar and raise the intensity of practice because he’s so good for other guys to see. He’s a really good football player and I look forward to playing with him.

“It’s not the first time we’ve added someone after the first week,” Edelman explained. “It’s not the last time we’ll do it, either. We have a really phenomenal football player that can come in and can help our football team be better.”

Quarterback Tom Brady talked about his new teammate, too.

“Just like a lot of new players, trying to get up to speed and so forth,” Brady said. “There’s a lot to learn. Coming into this time of year, I’d say is challenging. But that’s just the situation. It happens a lot throughout the NFL. Different players change teams and so forth. That’s happened over the years, so just trying to do the best we can do.”

Prior to the sexual assault accusations, Brady said he doesn’t judge anyone.

“You don’t judge anything,” Brady told Jim Gray. “I’m not judging anything before I have a chance to go out and practice and prepare. You know, Antonio, meeting him today I really enjoyed being around him, he’s a very smart football player, knows how to play the game. He’s been extremely productive.

“The only thing that I know what we can do is to go out there and work at it to meet and to communicate and get on the practice field and go through things. I’m not buying into any hype or potential. I’m into work. He’s into work and our entire offense is into doing what’s in the best interest for the team and I’m really excited to get to practice on Wednesday.”
