Julian Edelman Kind Of Hints Status Vs. Steelers With Latest Instagram Post

Patriots receiver Julian Edelman re-injured his left thumb again. It was the same thumb injury that kept him out of the field throughout training camp and the preseason. The injury isn’t too serious, but some fans started talking how the wide receiver will probably miss the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, Edelman shut down all the rumors about his status for the game.

The receiver is really excited about the season, and he has a few reasons to feel that way.

“I’m extremely excited for the new year,” he said. “This is a new team. With training camp coming up, this is kind of like when school’s back in session. We had summer break. You get to see the fellas. But this is where you learn the team, learn (about) each other, become accountable for each other, and work hard together, and create a consistency together,” he said. “This is the beginning shape form of your team, these next few weeks. It’s a crucial point. We put a lot of hard work in during the spring. It’s the next step toward playing with other teams. So it’s definitely exciting.”

His teammates will be really disappointed if Edelman doesn’t play, especially those who like his trash talking. Even his former teammates miss that.

“Yes he would, all the time,” Malcolm Butler said when asked if Edelman likes to trash talk. “I can remember him telling me, ‘This is the fade route, and I don’t think you can cover it.’ I took that personally, and started working on stopping other routes. So of course, he ran the fade on me (for a completion). When Julian gives it to you, he gives it to you,” he said. “He’s going to let you know about it. So that humbled me a little bit my rookie year when I was there. We could definitely trash talk at times. We could kind of get rude verbally at times. He’s a good dude. I love him. He’s a great competitor, but he always gave me encouraging words. We even went to Disney World together.”

“I can’t really tell you what was said,” Logan Ryan added, “because it’s not really fit for print. I hope I made him better. I know he made me better.”
